We have completed our archive by completing 10 issues of the monthly newsletter “Sustainable Times”, which keeps the memory of news, current developments and innovative ideas regarding sustainable development. We would like to thank all our stakeholders and readers who contributed to the newsletter during this process.
Our new bulletin series will continue with the “News from the Ecosystem” agenda that we publish as idemahaber. As IDEMA, INOGAR and Needs Map, we are institutions that feed on the same creative ecosystem and work in cooperation and coordination. In this context, in our new series, we will include developments, projects and what is happening in the field every month from our ecosystem consisting of IDEMA, INOGAR and Needs Map. During this process, we will periodically share interviews and interviews from experts with whom we collaborate and establish partnerships, through special bulletins.

We held the Hatay Living Space Opening Event

The opening of the Needs Map Container Living Space took place in Hatay in July. It started to work on building living spaces in earthquake zones with the support and solidarity of the public, private sector, non-governmental organizations and national/international institutions. The living space offered temporary shelter to our citizens who lost their homes in the earthquake and hosted 1500 disaster victims. We also took responsibility for the development and education of Living Spaces in Kahramanmaraş and Hatay. It was designed taking into account the needs of disabled individuals, women and children, and includes psychosocial support areas, child-friendly areas, sports areas, etc. It includes different areas such as. The meticulously designed area is an environmentally friendly model with its drinking water, wastewater and solid waste infrastructure.
Employment Map will help our citizens affected by the earthquake

Our Employment Map website is launched. Employment Map is a platform developed by Needs Map with the support of Eleman.net to help citizens affected by the earthquake in the process of finding a job. It will bring together job postings of individuals looking for work and employers.
We were in Morocco as Needs Map

After the devastating earthquake in Morocco, the Needs Map went to Morocco upon the call for support. Needs Map operation team members took part in warehouse and volunteer management with non-governmental organizations and the public in Morocco to examine the effects of the earthquake. We continue to be the meeting point of the world as well as our country, with our platform, which has been put into use and where the Needs Map software team has prepared the technological infrastructure in both Arabic and French, where the Needs Map software team can enter their needs requests.
We Examined the Distribution of Needs Coming from WhatsApp Chatbot According to Time, Place and Type of Need

During the February 6 earthquake, we received more than 100,000 requests from the region through the WhatsApp Needs Request Center, which we created with the support of Insider for the Hatay and Adıyaman regions. Time, place and type-based analyzes made as a result of the needs requests from Hatay showed that food, water, tents and hygiene packages were needed the most.

Akbank Hackathon: DisasterTech, in which Needs Map participated as a mentor, panelist and jury, took place at Sabancı Center. Needs Map Board Member Esra Arslan, one of the mentors and jury members of the hackathon organized in cooperation with Akbank LAB and imece, took part in evaluating the disaster technologies, field solutions and social impact criteria presentations of the entrepreneur candidates. At the same time, on the closing day, at the “Connecting the Dots: Technology, Finance and Humanitarian Aid in Disasters” panel, Needs Map GIS and Technology Team Leader Özge Acar explained to the participants the innovative technologies we produce and use in disasters in the context of their impact. With the theme of disaster technologies, we continue to support innovations in a wide range of solutions before, during and after disasters.
We organized Needs Map Stakeholder Meeting

Needs Map organized a ‘Stakeholder Meeting’ hosted by DasDas for the importance of civil solidarity after the devastation caused by the earthquake of February 6, 2023. The meeting, which was held with the approach of improving stakeholders’ post-disaster experiences, disaster management, and the economic and social dimensions of disasters, hosted 124 participants.

The Needs Map team took steps at the Türkiye İşbank 45th Istanbul Marathon to develop and improve the capacity and quality of the training areas in the earthquake zone. Türkiye İşbank 45th Istanbul Marathon, the only marathon in the world that unites Asia and Europe, was completed on the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey with the participation of 45 thousand people.

European Union Delegation to Turkey Socioeconomic Sector Program Manager Nurca Tuzcuoğlu and European Union Delegation to Turkey Communications Officer Deniz Yenal visited Beri Women’s Cooperative. The aim of the visit was to talk about the development of the EU Turkey Delegation Team, Beri Women’s Cooperative, listen to their work and understand their current situation. In this context, the innovations and changes that have taken place in the Beri Women’s Cooperative since the first date of the project were discussed, and the steps taken to ensure the sustainability of the Beri Women’s Cooperative under the consultancy and facilitation of IDEMA were explained.

Our event, which we held at Mersin Hilton Hotel, started with the opening speech of IDEMA Deputy General Manager Gökçe Ahi. The “Importance of Civil Society Cooperation in Periods of Disaster” panel was held with the speakers of INOGAR Board Chairman Mehmet Sarıca, Needs Map Board Member Esra Arslan and Needs Map Field Coordinator Semih Türer and the moderation of IDEMA Deputy General Manager Gökçe Ahi. The “Healthy Nutrition and Disaster Food during Disaster Periods” panel was held with the speakers of Project Consultant and Formeo Founder Elvan Odabaşı, Chef Yasin Taze, Social Entrepreneur Ahmet Turker, and Now Association Founder Sezi Kalkavan. CLIMB Project combines ecologically focused approaches with a multidisciplinary and multisectoral consortium (Data-Pop Alliance, Harvard University, IDEMA, Initiative Prospective Agricole Rurale, Malmö Universitet, Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg, Vrije Universiteit Brussel) to make sense of and model the complex process of climate-induced migration. brings it together.
We were at the “CLIMB Project: Climate-Induced New Perspectives and Methodological Innovations Workshop” in Sweden on 16-17 October. At the workshop, the issue of climate-induced migration was discussed in depth with the participation of many experts and academics. The “Local and Regional Studies on Climate-Induced Human Mobility” session was held under the moderation of IDEMA Co-founder Dr. Ali Ercan Özgür and with the speakers of Marta Welander, Herve Nicolle, Jared Owuor, Marion Tolboom and Sourina Bej. At the consortium meeting held afterwards, IDEMA’s activities within the scope of the project, as well as the ecosystem’s work areas and projects, were introduced.

We met face to face on 11-16 November in the “Teachers Creating Social Impact” module, to which we contributed within the scope of the “Insurance of Education: Our Teachers” project, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and the Turkish Education Association, with the contributions of Z Zurich Foundation. The online psychological support platform “Yan Yanayiz,” developed in cooperation with Needs Map, Z Zurich Foundation, Zurich Insurance, HeyMo® The Experience Design Company and Turkish Psychologists Association, has now started to provide services for young people. INOGAR Fair Future for Youth Project also took part in the EUREKA’23 event

As INOGAR Fair Future for Youth Project, we had the opportunity to meet young university students, introduce our project and chat about entrepreneurship. The Eureka’23 event also included interviews and start-up stands by successful entrepreneurs in their fields. During the all-day event, young people welcomed our project with great interest and had the opportunity to learn about our training on entrepreneurship.

Within the scope of INOGAR Young Fair Future Project (YFF), we held the cooperation meeting with the headpeople of Esenyurt Municipality on October 24. Important stakeholders such as Save the Children International-Turkey Country Office, Esenyurt Municipality, Directorate of Foreign Relations, Directorate of Culture, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and the City Council were also with us in this meeting. At the meeting, we talked about why cooperation with local governments is of critical importance and how the guidance of headmen contributes to the dynamics of our project. Negotiations of the cooperative to be established within the scope of the project continued and developments regarding the application process were evaluated and relevant actions were taken.

In the series that aims to support individuals on entrepreneurship models and ideas, IDEMA Board Member and Needs Map Executive Director Evren Aydoğan took part as a speaker in the social entrepreneurship session. Following the speech, the Needs Map Solidarity Documentary was screened. IDEMA, Needs Map and INOGAR ecosystem and the projects were explained to the students at the stands in the foyer area.

Solidarity Documentary was at the 30th International Adana Golden Cocoon Film Festival

The special screening of the Needs Map Solidarity Documentary at the 30th International Adana Golden Cocoon Film Festival took place with a large attendance. After the screening, Needs Map and the film crew answered the audience’s questions. Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s film ‘Kuru Otlar Üste’ had its Turkish premiere at the same festival. While all theaters were sold-out for this screening, the income from ticket sales was donated to the Need Map.
