Empowering Social Spaces for Women with Maruderm: Hatay Needs Map Container Living Area Project

July 19, 2024

In collaboration with MaruDerm Cosmetics and Needs Map, we transformed the communal area in the Hatay Needs Map Container Living Area into a social space for women. By analyzing the needs of women in the region, we designed a social space that they can use comfortably for education and workshop activities. 📚

During the procurement process, we meticulously considered every detail, from furniture to food supplies. With the project’s completion, this social space opened its doors with great enthusiasm and excitement. We aim to foster a strong bond of solidarity among women, build new friendships, and experience the pride of achieving together.

Development Glossary: Twin Transition, Blue Economy, Just Transition

July 17 – 30, 2024

We continue to introduce concepts from the development ecosystem in the Development Glossary. This month, we addressed prominent concepts in the ecosystem such as twin transition, blue economy, and just transition.

Just transition is a conceptual framework that helps the labor movement grasp the challenges in transitioning to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy, indicating public policy needs and aiming to maximize benefits while minimizing burdens for workers and communities in the transformation. (International Labour Organization (ILO))

Twin transition is often used to refer to the simultaneous realization of digital transformation and green transformation. However, it is a comprehensive concept that signifies much more than digital transformation or green transformation alone. This process is a combined transformation journey that harmonizes the power of innovation and technology with environmental and social responsibility to achieve a sustainable future.

The blue economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem. (World Bank)
